NNELL believes that all elementary school students should have access to high quality, ongoing and systematic world language instruction. This belief is based on research that indicates:
* Young children are at an optimal time to learn other languages.
* Children in effective early second language programs show gains in standardized tests of basic skills, and derive additional cognitive and affective benefits.
* The integration of content and language learning occurs easily as does the development of positive attitudes towards people who speak other languages and represent other cultures when long sequences of language study are an integral part of early schooling.
* Early language learning results in improved literacy skills. Reading and writing processes are similar for first and second languages. Skills and strategies are transferable for first to second language and vice versa. Well-constructed elementary world languages curriculum will positively influence literacy skills in both first and second language learning.
* Improved second language learning capability for elementary students can best be obtained with uninterrupted, well-sequenced, long-term language instruction.
NNELL holds an annual meeting at the fall conference of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and an annual Summer Institute for state and regional representatives at the National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa.

Languages Out There was established by experienced language teaching professionals in 2001. The first (English) courses were taught in London.

Applied Language Solutions started in October 2003 with Gavin Wheeldon, that's him on the left of the screen, working from a home office doing every thing - sales, programming, project management, general administration, you name it he did it. Gavin realised he couldn’t do everything himself so, in February 2004 Paul Wheeldon, Gavin’s brother joined the company as Operations Director and pushed through obtaining ISO9001, DIN and Investors in People accreditations which moved the company to a new level.
Applied Language opened it’s first office in sunny Huddersfield. This was soon filled with talented and enthusiastic staff who really wanted to help people, but the parking was terrible and things were getting a little crowded so, in April 2005 Applied Language moved to much swankier offices just outside Huddersfield. But we filled that one as well. So in March 2006 we all moved again to our new offices in Armitage Bridge.
From here the team swelled and grew shoots in Bulgaria where the project management and IT departments are based and a sales team in California to enable us to help the people of the USA with their translations.
A huge part of the company’s success is down to the 6,000 plus highly qualified translators we have based around the world. To help the translators we launched, in February 2006, Talkbase.net. This dedicated web portal allows them a secure way to keep track of the projects they are working on and most importantly ensure they are paid on time.

The Australian Universities Quality Agency reports that internationally, USQ is a leader in developing innovative program delivery while at the same time maintaining a strong commitment to educational quality.
USQ is funded by the Australian Government, is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and is on the Australian Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Courses.
A recent statement from the Australian Vice Chancellors Committee explains that all Australian universities are subject to legislative requirements for external quality audit and also employ a range of internal quality assurance processes. The statement goes on to describe the quality assurance processes for Australian universities.
