Based on the Bulgarian traditions and various scientific developments prior to 1980 the creation of conceptual new type of products was established, which combined the effects of pro-biotic and functional food. These new products were based on the Bulgarian tradition of yoghurt production, a tradition recognized all over the world that results in the production of the best yoghurt in the world. The program was headed by Professor Nikola Alexandrov, a leading scientist in this field.,The products were originally intended for Russian and Bulgarian space programs, for use by special army forces and for use under extreme conditions.,The pro-biotic and functional foods were exported in the countries of the ex-Soviet union block.
